HUGGS Canada is seeking volunteers for its Marketing & Events Committee. This Recruitment Profile provides information about HUGGS Canada and the Committee.
Mission Statement– The mission of HUGGS Canada (www.huggscanada.org), a grassroots charitable organization, is: ‘to provide underprivileged students in India with the opportunity to further their education, enabling them to contribute more effectively to their families and communities’.
Committee Purpose – HUGGS’ Marketing & Events Committee has been established to build awareness of the Charity’s profile among prospective donors, special interest groups, other NGO’s, charitable organizations and the wider community in order to sustain and ultimately grow annual donor funds raised. This will be enabled through various channels, including marketing materials, press releases, direct mail, social media feeds, speaking engagements, as well as through the organization of special events and fundraising campaigns.
2018 is HUGGS’ 15th anniversary!Coincidentally, HUGGS’ coordinator in India, Madhulatha Ganireddi, recently became recipient of the BC Council for International Cooperation (BCCIC) 2018 International Leadership Award. Madhulatha has demonstrated excellence in her work and will travel from India to B.C. in September to feature in a public engagement tour.
The Marketing & Events Committee has identified various areas of focus, for which we are seeking volunteers to provide time and expertise. These are set out below, as follows:
Website – work with HUGGS’ Manager in the monitoring and continual improvement of HUGGS website – update content, switch photos, improve functionality, coordinate with web host. Experience in DRUPAL necessary. Commitment: 4–8 hours per month, indefinite term
Social Media – take the lead in social media messaging – update Facebook and Twitter, tweet HUGGS messages, position HUGGS profile on the social media platforms to tell HUGGS’ story. Commitment: 4 – 8 hours per month, indefinite term
Newsletters – work with the HUGGS manager to prepare the newsletter – format, choose and add photos, stories and other content. Commitment: 4 – 6 hours, twice per year
Grant writing – research the availability of potential grants and prepare grant applications. Commitment: 6 – 10 hours per month, indefinite term
Power Point Presentation – assist with the preparation of a 10 – 15 minute power point presentation with narrative, descriptions, charity statistics, photos, video, etc. Commitment: 25 – 50 hours (one time)
Fundraising Campaigns and Events – develop ideas and plan fundraising activities, events and campaigns. Commitment: Unlimited!
Public Engagement Tour– in September 2018, the recipient of the BCCIC award of excellence,HUGGS’ Coordinator form India, will be travelling to BC to participate in a variety of events. Some assistance organizing events and logistics may be required. Estimated commitment: 10 – 20 hours (2018 only).
Who?HUGGS’ Marketing & Events Committee is looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals who have marketing, media, writing, photography, travel arranging, videography, interpersonal, hosting, charitable organization and / or any other skills and experience relevant to the above areas of focus, who believe they’d be agood fit for HUGGS.
